Yummy Keto Sweet and Sour Chicken Recipe
Sweet and sour chicken is an authentic Chinese dish, bursting in flavors and with quite an interesting texture.
This recipe is so good and better than many you can find in restaurants. Unlike the restaurants who tend to use bit cheaper ingredients to hit the quantity at a lower price, this chicken recipe uses only the best ingredients, with all of them being Keto friendly.
The highest carb ingredient is sugar-free ketchup. You can substitute with plain tomato sauce which only has 0.8g net carbs per serving (serving is 1 tablespoon).
The sugar-free ketchup has 3g of net carbs per serving.
Ingredients
Step 1.
Pat-dry the chicken and cut into bite-size pieces. Season chicken with salt and pepper. A pinch of these is quite enough.
Once seasoned, toss the chicken to coat evenly with the spices.
Step 2.
Crush the pork rinds by placing them into the plastic bag and bashing with a rolling pin, or process in a food processor until coarse.
Place the pork rinds in a large mixing bowl. Add almond flour and Parmesan. Stir to combine.
Step 3.
Place beaten egg in a large bowl. Dip the chicken pieces into the egg and shake off the excess egg. Transfer into the bowl with breading.
Step 4.
Coat the chicken with the breading. Make sure to shake off excess breading. If not, it may get burned in the skillet.
Step 5.
Heat avocado oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. You can use a medium or large skillet. If using large, you can fry the chicken all at once.
Step 6.
Once the oil is heated, it is time to add the chicken pieces. Place them gently into the heated oil as the oil may splatter. It is best to use tongs.
Step 7.
While the chicken is cooking, you can make the sauce. Combine all sauce ingredients in a skillet. Simmer for 5 minutes. Place the sauce aside to cool down a bit.
Step 8.
Once the chicken is done, transfer it gently into the sauce.
Once all the chicken is in there, stir the chicken gently and coat evenly with the sauce.

For chicken
- 2 Chicken breast fillets
- 1 Egg (large, beaten)
- 1/2 cup Crushed pork rinds (I used homemade as we didn't have prepacked)
- 1/4 cup Almond flour
- 3 tbsp Parmesan cheese grated
- 1 1/2 tbsp Avocado oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
For sauce
- 1/4 cup Erythritol powdered
- 1/4 cup Rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp Sugar-free ketchup
- 1/2 tbsp Coconut aminos
- 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
Instructions
- Cut chicken into pieces and season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Combine pork rinds, almond flour, and Parmesan in a bowl.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet.
- Dip chicken into eggs and coat with pork rind mixture. Fry in oil until golden.
- Combine all sauce ingredients in a saucepot. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Pour sauce over chicken and stir to coat. Serve.
